Sunday School was the first among the fellowships to begin. In the year 1966 the Sunday School was operated in the house occupied by Late John Balin in the Government Quarter at SNT colony. Late Elder P. B. Rai taught and led the Sunday School. The few students who attended the said Sunday School are namely Miss Elishiba Dhungel, Miss Helenmit Lepcha, Miss Tulshi Chhetri, Miss Rosie Lepcha, Mr G. T. Dhungel and Miss Sonamit Dhungel. But Mr Balin was later transferred and his house was closed to Sunday School fellowship.
Subsequently, on the advice of Miss Dukmit Lepcha, the Sunday School service was resumed in 1976 in the house of Mr D. D. Dhungel. Miss Elishiba Dhungel and Mr D. D.
Dhungel together conducted the Sunday School. Those Sunday School students were: Miss Katherine Tasho, Mr Menlom Lepcha, Mr Menlom Suckmimoo, Mr David Rai, Mr Ezra Rai, Mr Pemba Lepcha, Miss Rosie Lepcha, Miss Rosie Tasho, Miss Nimkit Tasho, Mr Palchen Lepcha, Miss Daisy Lepcha, Mr Gebo Tasho, Miss Irene Tasho, Mr Phurba Lepcha and Miss Devika Rai and many others.
After
them many others had also supported and taught in the Sunday School, namely;
1.Mr J. O. Simick
2. Mr Menlom Lepcha
3. Miss Naomi Pradhan
4. Phurba Sherpa
5. Late Sabita Dhungel and others.
The Sunday School service continued unabated with the help of Mr Phurba Sherpa who has been blessed by the Lord and continues to lead and teach the Sunday School students even today without any complaints or ill feelings whatsoever. With the increasein number of children, the Sunday School was spread out in other places like Amdo Golai, College Valley, 5th Mile, Gairi Gaon and so on. Presently, the Amdo Golai Sunday Schoolis being lead by Miss Melody Tasho and Samina Lakhay at Gairi Gaon Sunday Schoolis being conducted by Mrs Moti Dolma Subba, Miss Dichen Doma Lepcha and Mary Rai; College Valley Sunday School is being run by Miss Sukmit Rai; 5th Mile Sunday School is being nursed by Mr Navin Thapa and the Central Sunday School is being monitored by Mr Phurba Sherpa, Miss Preeti Sharma, Miss Leela Lepcha, Miss Christina Sherpa, Mrs Jasmine Sherpa and others.
One evening in 1975 in the month of October-November a prayer fellowship was held in the house of Mr A.D. Rai. At that time, Mr A. D. Rai was staying in the house of Mr Raju Subba at Gairi Gaon. On that day, apart from the family members, Late Chho Tshering Lepcha, Late Dawa Sada, Mr D. D. Dhungel and others were present. The prayer fellowship continued every Wednesday evening in the residence of Late Cho Tshering Lepcha at Dara Gaon. On the lighter note, the house was mentioned as Canaan since milk was served abundance freely.
Later on, this was converted to Youth Fellowship and instead of holding prayer fellowship on Wednesdays, it was decided that the fellowship be held as youth meeting on every Saturday evening. Those days, the Youth comprised of mothers, fathers and the rest. As a result, all the young people were actively involved and participated in meetings.
The Youth had to provide fellowship covering a vast area extending up to Chota Singtam and, at times, had to coordinate with the fellowship of Singtam and Rangpo as well. Some of the active young people of that time were Suiman Simick, Norden Tasho, Gahar Singh Subba, D. D. Dhungel, Elishiba Dhungel, Prem Dora Pradhan, John Tshering Lepcha, Eli Rai, Rahel Rai, Rosie Sada, Irene Sada, Pemba Lepcha ( Bobby), David Ral, Ashok Lepcha, Late Mohan Raj Subba, Cheong Targain, Mohan Pradhan, Menlom Lepcha, Rajesh Subba, Menlom Suckmimoo, Palchen Lepcha, Katherine Tasho, Miss Nimkit Tasho, Dup Tshering Tasho, Late Mr Ezra Rai, Thutop Targain, Bikas Sitling, Noel Lepcha, Naomi Pradhan, Late Prakash Pradhan, Rajesh Subba, Meera Subba, Sarita Subba, Pemba Lepcha, Pem Dorji Lepcha, Kamal Pradhan, Kamala Pradhan, Late Mohan Singh, Rugen Lepcha and others.
